TSL were asked to undertake an initial testing and inspection survey to ascertain the extent of the potential defects present on the buildings envelope. After issue of this we were asked to submit costs for remedial actions based on our proposals. Access requirements were restrictive due to the locations of the gutters and lower roofs running below the eaves line.
All proposals were accepted and TSL mobilised on site. Our initial task was to clear all the existing debris in the gutter system of the entire building to asses the full extent of the works to be undertaken and ensure there were no further defects.
It was found that the laps of the existing system were failing along with some of the temporary repairs that had been installed. All the loose existing linings were removed and prepared to be relined with a liquid waterproof membrane system with embodied fleece. The most challenging part of this project was access and safe systems of work due to the restrictions of erecting a handrail or working platform on the external of the building.
With all the gutters relined, the leaks rescinded and internal works to make good the previously long-standing damage could be rectified. TSL has since received the order to complete full remedials of the entire facilities gutters.
