Lily celebrates her one year anniversary with TSL this month so we’ve taken some time to learn more about her role, her progression and what the TSL experience means.

Thank you Lily for the continued hard work, always striving for the best while putting a smile on everyone’s face.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy the people! Talking to everyone; the office team, site teams, and our suppliers. It’s such a varied role so I am constantly learning.

What’s the best bit of working at TSL?

The family vibe! Since joining everyone was so welcoming from day 1. You instantly feel part of the team, and the bond just grows and grows. The company away days are brilliant, the whole team are genuinely excited to spend the day together which I have never experienced in any other workplace. Everyone makes the effort to attend. If you had told me in my interview that I would be singing karaoke in front of the whole team, I wouldn’t have believed you… But it was a brilliant night. We really are all friends here and have such fun together.

That’s the same in the workplace too though, everyone is so helpful and genuinely cares if you are getting on ok or need a hand. Your well being is a priority here.

What would you say the hardest part about your role is?

As I came from retail it’s been a challenge to adapt and learn the technical side, and terminology used for different materials. I am now visiting sites when I can so I can visualise what I am ordering and talking about which is going to be a huge help. The CPD’s Dan Jarnak has been organising have been very helpful, it’s given those who don’t usually get a chance to see things, a great insight in to more of the technical knowledge. On top of this all the team are constantly there to help you level up, no matter how busy someone is, help is always there.

What does the TSL Experience mean to you?

For me it’s about always striving to deliver the best you can, always finding solutions and being as helpful as possible to those around me. We constantly try to do things which set us apart but not just for the sake of it, truly because we care. Within my role it means making sure the teams on site have what they need before its required. We are always looking to build strong relationships with our suppliers ensuring we can deliver the best service to our clients together.

What’s a day in the life of Lilly? What do you do for fun?

I enjoy socialising with family and friends. I love live music and weekends away.

How would you like to improve procurement? What do you think you could do even better?

I’d like us to be more proactive within our department, searching for opportunities to improve processes. We are constantly trying to make lives easier for our clients, but I think it’s important we keep the focus internally too, being able to make the site teams lives easier by continuously improving our processes is important to me.

Out of the TSL values, which one resonates with you the most?

Family! There’s definitely a strong family vibe in the office. I love working with everyone here and it’s so nice how positive and helpful everyone is. Everyday coming to the office feels like a second home and it makes such a difference that everything we do is for a positive impact. Even if someone’s having a bad day, they still make an effort to say hello and ask how you are, I think that mutual support from everyone has helped keep a great atmosphere despite being so busy at the moment.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to work for TSL?

Just be yourself, be passionate about your job and strive for excellence. I think ultimately, we’re a really friendly bunch and if you work hard, you’re genuine, and value family like we do, you’ll fit in perfectly and really enjoy your time here.

I hear you did well at the TSL awards last time, what did you win and are you hoping to repeat the success?

Last year I got ‘The people’s choice’ and ‘best newcomer’ awards, not sure I’d get that again. People’s choice was really surprising I honestly didn’t expect anything as I had only been with the company for 6 months, so it meant a lot. Hopefully they introduce a new award for best singer as I think I would win that one!
