At TSL, we are dedicated to ensuring the highest standards at our construction sites, and we are delighted to announce that two of our prestigious student accommodation refurbishment projects in London have been awarded Considerate Constructor status.

The not-for-profit Considerate Constructors scheme supports the industry to raise its standards through an independent code of practice, carrying out individual project audits across 3 categories: Respect the Community, Care for the Environment and Value the Workforce. Running for over 30 years, the scheme has significantly improved public trust in the construction industry.

The Considerate Constructors framework has recognised the exceptional facilities we provide on-site for our workers, the proactive engagement we have with our building occupants, and our positive consideration of the wider community around each of our projects. Both sites have excelled in the audit, securing higher the average marks in all three categories.

Our welfare amenities include a spacious canteen where workers can enjoy their meals in a comfortable and relaxed environment. We have also equipped our sites with a large drying room to ensure that our teams can store and dry their work gear efficiently, maintaining their comfort and safety throughout the day.

To promote a positive and engaging work atmosphere, we have introduced recreational facilities such as pool tables and darts boards. These give our workers a chance to unwind and socialize during their breaks, fostering a sense of community and well-being.

We have leveraged technology and installed display screens throughout the sites to provide weekly updates, safety information, and two-week project look aheads, to include things like planned noisy works. These screens ensure that all team members, visitors, and resident students, are well-informed and aware of the latest developments and safety protocols.

We actively consider the needs of the operating businesses within these buildings, providing extra signage and directions for their customers, along with safe access routes, so that trade is not affected. Our project management team maintain contact to provide updates and progress reports, allowing them to plan their business activities.

Working on student sites enables us to inspire the next generation of construction professionals and provide valuable educational experiences. By hosting student engagement meetings, we can offer local students a unique opportunity to learn about the construction industry, gain insights into fire remediation processes, and interact directly with our experienced site management team.

Externally we also engage with local schools, inviting them to create designs for a section of our hoardings. This exciting opportunity gives the pupils a public gallery for their artwork, building their creativity and boosting their confidence. It also serves to give the wider community pride in its environment, fostering a positive relationship with the construction project.

And finally, we circulate a project newsletter to the neighbouring properties, so that they have a top-level overview of the project and its team. By providing this key information, including a project timeline, we can extend our TSL Experience and give a face to construction, ensuring the community feels connected, a little more invested, and can contact us easily.

Our proactive approach to welfare, communication and engagement underscores our dedication to being a Considerate Constructor and our commitment to creating a transparent, educational, and collaborative project environment.
