TSL received the invitation to tender for this opportunity on behalf of Carillion Plc at a time when some were calling a recession. The MC was struggling to meet the initial budgets set out by the estimating department and as such urged the sub-contractors to offer value engineering alternatives, it was at this point that TSL secured the project after meeting all client demands with a cost effective solution.
One of the main reasons behind TSL securing the project were there capabilities in undertaking multi-disciplined elements of the works and applying our expertise to all areas of site. These are listed but not limited to the following:
- Single ply roofing
- Hot monolithic liquid roofing
- Safety netting
- Structural metal decking
- Wall cladding
- Access hatches
The project itself was a success even with the heightened programme implications caused by a cold snap in a winter that had record rainfalls, which for the roofing package proved difficult. However, the programme was still met with some innovative thinking from the site team on drying the roof on a daily basis. On the project were some new TSL plant machinery; we invested in our own 3 drum boiler to undertake the works, which proved to be quite the investment as we continue to carry out hot monolithic liquids still on a regular basis.
