TSL raise £11,290 for Abby’s Heroes and Nerve Tumours UK

The TSL Team raise over £11,000 for Abby’s Heroes and Nerve Tumours UK We raised £11,290 in 2023 to support two local charities: Abby’s Heroes who support the patients and families of the children’s cancer ward at Southampton General Hospital, and Nerve Tumours UK who provide medical and non-medical support to the 26,500 people in the UK living with Neurofibromatosis. The TSL team raised an incredible £6,797 for Nerve Tumours UK and £4,474 for Abby’s Heroes, through a series of events. We had teams cycling 100 miles from London to Essex, a team of 8 completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, completing the Great South Run, pizza days, and more. Wear It Pink For Breast Cancer Now

The TSL office and projects sites were a sea of pink as we celebrated Wear it Pink Day, raising money for Breast Cancer Now, a charity that remains very close to our hearts. Our team wore pink and bought an array of delicious treat in to raise money and awareness for this amazing charity. Finance Controller Sarah Hughes said: “I’m so touched that the TSL team have got so involved in celebrating Wear it Pink day. I volunteer for Breast Cancer Now to support individuals who are living with a breast cancer diagnosis. I’ve survived breast cancer twice even though the odds weren’t in my favour. Racing Ahead At The Great South Run 2023

A huge congratulations to our three amazing runners for conquering Portsmouth’s Great South Run on Sunday 15 October! Strategic Partnership Director Lewis Jones, Estimator Matt Oaten, and Head of People and Culture Stacey Gearey each completed the 10 miles to raise money for our two nominated charities, Nerve Tumours UK, and Abby’s Heroes. Matt Oaten, Estimator, commented: “I loved taking part in the Great South Run, it’s a great opportunity to raise money for two incredible charities. I also completed The Three Peaks Challenge in September, so it’s great to help add to our fundraising totals. Three Peaks Challenge – 2023

Our intrepid explorers take on the Three Peaks Challenge! September 2023 The toughest of the TSL team took on the Three Peaks Challenge to fundraise for our two charity partners: Nerve Tumours UK and Abby’s Heroes. The team started in Scotland, taking on all 1,345m of Ben Nevis at 5am before heading to hike 978m of Scafell Pike and then 1085m of Snowdon. It was a total of 23 miles to hike, and the challenge was to complete all three mountains plus the travelling within 24 hours. Meet Our 2023 Charity Partners

This year the TSL team are fundraising for two charities very close to our hearts: Nerve Tumours UK and Abby’s Heroes. In 2022, our Technical Director Dan Jarnak and his family were introduced to the charities after his 2-year-old daughter, Evie, was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis. The condition, known as NF1, is a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow anywhere around the body. Evie has tumours on her optic nerves which are affecting her eyesight. She is severely visually impaired as a result, and here’s where the two charities have been supporting Evie, Dan and his wife, Rachel.
